According to the historical records this magnificent temple was built during the 19th century by the Kings of the Jamwal Rajput clan after the prediction of Shri Ram Dass Bairagi. He was a keen devotee of Lord Rama who came to the region for spreading the values of Rama among the country’s people. However, he came here from Ayodhya and got settled in Sui – Simbli where he built a temple of Lord Rama. But he says that this temple was originally founded by Raja Jagat Singh of Kullu, who built this place to convert his bad sines into good.

And after his death, the temple’s construction was completed by his successor Maharaj Ranbir Singh in 1860. The main idol in this temple is of Lord Rama who was earlier bought by Raja Jagat Singh from Ayodhya, the birthplace of Rama. Moreover, the temple was shut down in 2002 after the terrorist attack held on the temple premises. Hence the temple was reopened in 2013 after eleven years.
