Chandigarh – Dream city of Jawaharlal Nehru

Chandigarh is a beautiful city and capital of both Punjab and Haryana states of India. It is a union territory that lies on the Indo – Gangetic plane. This city is the first well-planned city in the country after independence. However, the city is famous for its amazing infrastructure and architecture. Here you can witness more than sixteen hundred species of flowers. It is one of the most developed as well as clean cities in the country. Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru the first Prime Minister of India has appointed a French architect to design the city.

Lahore was the capital city of Punjab state before the partition of India and Pakistan. Moreover, the states of Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, and Punjab were a single state. But after the partition of the country in 1947 Lahore become part of Pakistan. Therefore, in 1948 a bill was passed to form a new city and in 1950 the foundation work was started. During that time Shimla was the capital city of the state. After the city got completed in 1960, it became the capital of Punjab and later in 1966 the capital of Haryana state. Chandigarh is a peaceful and well-maintained city in the country.

  • Boating :- The wonderful thing to do in the city is boating in Sukhna Lake. It is a man-made lake formed to clog up the stream of Sukhna Choe in 1958. This lake is one of its kind and one of the musts to visit the location of the city. However, the boating experience in the lake will make your trip more fun and memorable.

  • Pinjor Garden :- It is a Mughal Garden established in the 17th century. This garden is situated in Panchkula and is popular around the world for its fabulous environment.   • Le Corbusier Centre :- It is a museum dedicated to Le Corbusier. He was a French architect who developed the design of the city. At this museum, you will find the planning blueprint of Chandigarh city along with prints of America as well as Japan. This centre was his workplace where he worked during the development period.
  • Government Museum and Art Gallery :- This is the place for art as well as history lovers. Here you can witness the stories of many historical events that happened during and after the partition. However, with it, the museum is famous for its various art sculptures, painting and artefacts.
