Hyderabad – The Pearl City

Hyderabad is the biggest city and capital of Telangana, the 29th state of India. It is a hypnotizing city of Nizams as well as the technology center of the state. Hyderabad is known as the land of Nawabs, due to its royal history. The city was founded by Qutub Shahi Dynasty in 1518. Sultan Mohammad Quli Qutub Shah was the first sultan of Hyderabad and the fifth ruler of the Qutub Shahi dynasty. This city was formed on the river Musi which is 5 miles from Golconda fort.

Old people and the books of the city say that the area was earlier ruled by many rulers of different dynasties like Mauryas, Chalukyas, Kakatiyas, also by Tughluqs. The formation of the city started with the foundation of the Golconda fort earlier known as Manu Gallu. It was founded by Kakatiya for protection from the western side of their territory.

After the Qutub Shahi dynasty, the city was ruled by Aurangzeb the successor of the Mughal empire. The first Nizam of the city Mir Qamar – ud – Din Siddiqi was appointed in 1724. Moreover, Nizams were the administrators of the realm but they become the rulers of Hyderabad after the decline of the Mughal empire. However, they ruled over the city till its independence in 1947.

Tourist attractions of Hyderabad

  • Charminar :-  This is the oldest as well as the first building in the city. It was formed by Sultan Mohammad Quli Qutub Shah for his beloved wife Begum Bhagmati in 1591. It is a square monument that is 30 meters wide and 50 meters tall. This glamorous building the four towers on its corners and a mosque on the top floor.
  • Golconda Fort :-  This fort is well constructed by the Qutub Shahi kings in 1518. This fort is 11 km away from the main city. It is a beautiful fort with 87 bastions and 8 gates along with 18 ft. high boundary walls. The main attraction of this majestic fort is its evening lights and sound show.
  • Gravity Zip :- It is an indoor skydiving experience for people who do not experience skydiving due to their fear of hight. But want to experience the excitement at that time.   • KBR National Park :-  It is the most popular location in Hyderabad among tourists. This is the biggest park in the area. This park was named after the name of former CM of the state Kasu Brahmananda Reddy in 1998. It is an astonishing park with over 600 species of exotic flora and fauna. It is a beautiful park with a relaxing and peaceful environment.
  • Hussain Sagar Lake :- It is an artificial lake formed by Ibrahim Quil Qutub Shah in 1562. It is the largest artificial lake in Asia, situated on the streamlet of the Musi River. The main attraction of this lake is the statue of lord Buddha which is of Silicon and about 16 meters high. Here you can enjoy various activities like boating, water skiing, parasailing, etc.
  • Chilkur Balaji Temple :- This temple is about 500 years old and has great value. Thousands of visitors visit this temple on daily basis. It is a very famous temple of lord Venkateshwara along with goddess Sridevi and Bhoomi Devi. This temple is also famous the name of the Visa Balaji Temple. It is situated on the bank of Osman Sagar Lake 30 km away from the main city.

Best time to visit

Hyderabad is a city with holiday favorable weather throughout the year. The best time to visit the city is from October – March. In these months the weather is quite pleasing and a little cold. These are the months of the winter season and the temperature during this time is between 13° – 25°C.

It is the peak period for tourists visiting the city. During these months the weather is amusing as well as enjoyable. Tourists can easily explore the old and new city along with the tasty Hyderabadi food. You can also visit the city during summer but the weather at this time is hot and humid. The temperature sometimes rises to 40° – 45°C and wandering around the city streets becomes a little difficult.
